First Step for Vision Client Issues

Sometimes the local Vision client will stop performing as expected, not download, etc.  This process should be tried first to correct these issues:

Locate the folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0 and DELETE IT.

After the 2.0 folder is deleted and the workstation rebooted, when the user launches Vision, it will reload the ClickOnce files which resets the client.

If they folder can not be found you may need assistance from your IT group to unhide it.

 

End Of Year Updates

EoY updates are applied during a special maintenance window beginning at 10pmEST on Dec31st and runs until 8amEST Jan 1st

 

Hosting Billing

Hosting invoices are generated quarterly and should arrive by the 10th of March, June, September and December please let us know if your invoice has not arrived!  Also be reminded that hosting rates are adjusted periodically so you will only be billed for your active employees.

 

MODI, Merge Macros, and CMO

MODI, Merge Macros, and CMO are supported in the Hosting environment. 

 

Test Databases

By default test databases do not have TDM or the process server enabled, but can be enabled upon request. 

 

Record your steps leading up to a problem with PSR

Problem Steps Recorder, or PSR.exe, is a great tool for end users and support analysts alike.

You can access it by typing psr.exe in your start search bar, or by going start -> run and typing psr.exe

This tool can record the steps you take to perform an action, or to demonstrate steps taken before an error is encountered.

After the recording is made, the program automatically creates an html file that displays what actions were taken, and what dialog messages are displayed.

If you run in to a problem at work, rather than sending an error message or screenshot to your support group, you can just launch PSR, repeat the process, and send them the automatically created document. This greatly enhances the troubleshooting process and should lead to vastly shorter email and troubleshooting cycles.

 

Scheduling Large Reports

To prevent Vision slowdowns and increase personal productivity, consider scheduling large jobs to run after hours.  2am-5amEST are typically low use times and are perfect for running large, routine jobs.  Please contact your Vision Consultant for more info.

 

Integrated Security, Network Printers, and Batch Billing

We cannot provide Integrated Security or Network Printing in the hosting environment at this time.  To use batch billing, please follow this process:

When using Vision’s Batch Billing feature, you must select the <local printer> option. When you select this option, you may receive a message indicating that you cannot print invoices using the <local printer> option. To override this message, you must select the Do Not Print when generating invoices option on the Main tab of the Batch Billing form when running the batch. After you run the batch bill, click the Previously Run Batches tab to print/preview the invoices via PDF.

You can control how long previously run batches are available using the Retain Invoices for up to field on the Billing Session Options dialog available from the Batch Billing form.

 

Email and Hosted Vision

We are now providing free SMTP2GO accounts for hosting clients to send email from your hosted Vision.  This provides a set-it-and-forget-it solution that is immune to Vision upgrades or server migrations.  In the past clients needed to provide their own email server settings to deliver email from Vision and while this is and always will be a viable option, we’ve seen the SMTP2GO shine as a preferable delivery solution.  Please submit a request to the right to take advantage of this offer.

 

Touch Time, Expense, Navigator

These products are available to all of our hosting clients on Vision 7.2 and greater.  Also, if the smartphone apps don’t work, you can always use the URL instead as they provide the same functionality – you can even use them on PC/Mac browsers!
